Women's Soccer Tops Bethany

The Saint Mary women's soccer team improved their record to 7-5-2 on the season with a 2-1 victory over Bethany at home on Wednesday. The Spires are 3-3-1 in KCAC play.

After a scoreless first half, Justine Brown scored the first goal of the game off an assist from Courtney Callahan to give the Spires a 1-0 lead just under 10 minutes into the second half.

Bethany tied the game in the 71st minute, but Saint Mary would not be denied. Callahan netted the game winning goal in the 80th minute, and the Spires held on for the 2-1 victory.

The Swedes had entered the game ahead of the Spires in the KCAC Standings with a 3-2-1 in KCAC play. With the win, Saint Mary moved into a tie with Bethany in 6th place and hold the tie breaker.

Saint Mary is back in action on Saturday when they host Kansas Wesleyan at 1pm.
