| The University
of Saint Mary Athletics Department has two full-time NATA
certified athletic trainers on staff, Romotthy Quashie (aka "Q"),
and Anna Johnson Manternach. The two trainers focus on physical
wellness, but also care about emotional, intellectual, and
spiritual health of our student-athletes.
Romotthy Quashie
Head Athletic Trainer
(M.S. University of Kansas, 2003)
Quashie, a native of Trinidad-Tobago, comes to USM from the University
of Kansas where he received his master's degree while working with
the football and women's rowing teams. Previously he has worked
in sports environments ranging from high school athletes to the New York
Jets professional football team.
As the head trainer, he is responsible
for the supervision of the care and prevention of injuries for all
eight USM teams. "I am very happy to be here," Quashie said. "In
a small college environment you can get to know your clients better,
much like a family. I welcome the responsibility of helping the students
achieve their athletic potential."
Anna Johnson Manternach
(B.A. Bethel University)
Anna Johnson Manternach became
assistant athletic trainer USM in January 2008. She came
to USM from the Fairview Lakes Health System in the Twin
Cities, Minn. She graduated from Bethel University in
St. Paul, Minn., in 2005.
