The Saint Mary men's soccer team headed to Bartlesville, OK on Thursday night to take on #4 Oklahoma Wesleyan. The game was originally scheduled for Wednesday but was pushed back due to weather.

The Spires hung with the Eagles in the first half. After Oklahoma Wesleyan scored the first two goals of the game, Francisco Sanchez netted a goal for the Spires in the 41st minute to make the score 2-1. That score would reamin into halftime.

The Eagles would find their rhythm in the second half and go on a 6-0 run to take the game by a final score of 8-1. After getting off four shots in the first half, the Spires would not get a shot off in the second. Enrique Gonzales was tested as Oklahoma Wesleyan put 24 shots on goal. Gonzales made 16 saves in the match.

The loss drops the Spires to 4-6 on the season and 0-3 in KCAC play. The Spires have played their first three KCAC games against teams in the top four of the KCAC Standings.

Saint Mary will host Ottawa for Homecoming Weekend on Saturday. The game is scheduled for an 8pm start in Charles J. Berkel Memorial Stadium. Ottawa is 4-5-1 on the season and 2-1 in KCAC play.
