The Saint Mary volleyball team earned a four set victory at Bethany on Friday night. The Spires have won four of their last six matches to improve their record to 8-8 on the season. The Spires are 5-4 in KCAC play.

The Spires got out to a 10-7 lead in the first set but would eventually fall 25-20. Saint Mary trailed 15-12 in the second set but rallied for a 25-22 win. The third set provided the most drama as the Spires trailed 22-17 late in the set before rattling off six straight points to take a 23-22 lead. The set went into extra points before the Spires finally claimed a 27-25 victory. Saint Mary sealed the match when they rallied from a 20-17 deficit in the fourth set, eventually winning 25-23.

Kaitlynn Lanier led the Spires with 13 kills and Savannah Fillion added 10. Maleka Benjamin had nine kills and Bianca Asheim finished with eight to round out the attack for Saint Mary. Brittani Pascua had a season high 41 assists for the Spires. Lanier dominated the net on the defensive side for the Spires as well. Lanier posted a season high nine block assists and recorded two solo blocks. Angela Wade added five block assists as well. Adeline Pagan-Sanchez, Katy Koepke, Marissa Martin, Alyssa Chung, and Pascua each posted double digit dig totals for the Spires.

Saint Mary will resume play tonight when they host Southwestern at 6pm. The Moundbuilders are 3-12 on the season and 1-8 in KCAC play.
