The Saint Mary men's soccer team took a 4-1 loss at home to Bethel on Saturday. The loss drops the Spires to 4-5 on the season and 0-2 in KCAC play.

The match remained tight in throughout the first half. Bethel opened the scoring with a goal in the 12th minute of the match, but the score would stay 1-0 into halftime. Saint Mary evened the score when Branden Sanchez netted his 17th goal of the season less than five minutes into the second half. Jay Willcutt was credited with the assist.

Bethel would pull away in the remaining minutes of the second half as they scored three more times to take the 4-1 victory. Enrique Gonzales played all 90 minutes in goal. He made eight saves in the loss.

The Spires are back in action on on Wednesday when they travel to Bartlesville, OK for an 8pm match at Oklahoma Wesleyan. The Eagles are 7-1-1 on the season and 2-0 in KCAC play.
