The Saint Mary volleyball team had their four game winning streak snapped on Wednesday. The Spires were taken in three sets at (RV) Ottawa. Saint Mary is now 4-5 on the season.

The Spires played tough in all three sets falling 25-19, 25-21, and 25-21. Savannah Fillion sent down 14 kills for a game high. Brittani Pascua offered up 13 assists. Katy Koepke led the defense with 17 digs. Kaitlynn Lanier had a team high three block assists.

The Spires rallied in the first set after trailing 10-5 and taking a timeout. Saint Mary had the set tied 11-11 but after a 6-0 run by Ottawa, the Spires eventually fell 25-19. Saint Mary rallied twice in the second set from 8-2 and 15-10 deficits and had the game tied 20-20 before falling 25-21. Saint Mary rallied in the third set as well. They trailed 22-13,  then cut the score to 23-21 but fell again by a score 25-21.

The volleyball team will be back in action on Saturday when they host Kansas Wesleyan and Haskell. The Spires will take on Kansas Wesleyan at 1pm and Haskell at 5pm.
