The Saint Mary softball team earned a split with Oklahoma Wesleyan on Saturday. The Spires fell in game one 6-3 and won the second game 2-0. Saint Mary is now 6-5 in KCAC play.

In game one, Saint Mary scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 1-0 lead. Oklahoma Wesleyan finally struck late as they plated six runs in the sixth inning. The Spires mounted a rally in the bottom of the seventh with two runs, but they would draw no closer in the 6-3 loss.

Carrie Lee pitched five and two thirds innings allowing four runs on five hits while striking out three and walking three. Samantha Torres allowed two runs in relief. Torres led the Spires at the plate with two hits. Maddison Carr added a double and four other Spires each had a hit.

Lee went back out to the pitching circle in the second game of the double header and dominated the Eagles. Lee tossed a complete game shut out allowing just two hits and striking out one. The Spires scored two runs in the fifth and that would be all they needed. After a strike out to begin the inning, Torres reached on an error and Kayla Hackney doubled. After a pop out, Lee sent a two out, RBI single to center to score two runs.

Saint Mary is back in action on Wednesday at Bethel. A double header will begin at 1pm.
