The Saint Mary softball team took two losses in a double header at Hastings on Thursday. The Spires fell 6-2 and 6-4. Saint Mary is now 6-14 on the season.

In the 6-2 loss, Carrie Lee tossed a complete game and allowed six runs. She walked three and allowed 12 hits. The Spires managed three hits in the game. Hannah Gradillas, Samantha Torres, and Nicole DeSimone each had one. Torres had two RBI. Hastings broke out with five runs in the fifth inning to push their lead to 6-0. The Spires got two runs in the fifth, but could draw no closer.

In the second game, Saint Mary opened the game with a run in the top of the first, but Hastings answerd with two runs in the first, second, and third innings. Saint Mary scored again in the top of the second and two more in the fourth, but would be held scoreless the rest of the game. Five Spires had a hit in the game. Lee started in the pitching circle and tossed five innings. Torres and Abagail Gonzales pitched in relief.

The Spires are back in action this weekend when they host Jamestown on Saturday and then play Jamestown and Morningside in a triangular on Sunday. Saturday's games begin at 1pm.
